THE Ministry of Youth and Sports has partnered with the Ba Women’s Forum and Melbourne South Rotary Club to distribute reusable sanitary kits to rural schools in the Western Division.

The Days for Girls project involves providing the reusable kits to allow girls to attend school.

Teachers in the division often report that most female students miss classes during their menstruation because they did not have access to sanitary products.

Government through Ministry of Youth and Sports in partnership with the rotary club provide the needed support and distributed the kits to schools in the division.

More than 200 kits were distributed to five remote schools so far.

The latest recipient was Nasesevia Secondary School.

Principal Mesulame Uluimoala said the school was fortunate to receive such gifts.

“Some female students often miss school during their menstruation because of a lack of sanitary products,” he said.

“Forty girls at the school received a kit each.”

Ministry of Youth and Sports divisional manager west, Valami Naloga, said it was encouraging to see the project impacted the lives of young women.
