DEFENDING champion Nadi has secured the services of Anand Sami to guide the team for the upcoming Pacific Cup in New Zealand.
Sami, a former Labasa and national rep, recently coached Tavua during the Courts Inter-District Championship.
Nadi Football Association president Javed Ahmed said Sami had been appointed as the head coach of the “green machine”.
Ahmed said within three days there was a big change in the format of football displayed by the players.
“We are grateful to Sami for offering his services to us,” Ahmed said.
“He is a good coach and we hope to secure him for the next season.”
Meanwhile, the Jack’s Nadi side has been boosted with sponsorships by two overseas companies. UBN Air-conditioning from Sydney and All In One Builders from Auckland, New Zealand, have joined hands as co-sponsors to support the side to defend the Pacific Cup.
“Our team will now be known as Jack’s Nadi, supported by All In One Builders and UBN Air-conditioning for the Pacific Cup,” Ahmed said.
UBN Air-conditioning was found in 2009 by Umendran Nair, a former Fiji football referee and Nadi Football Association secretary.
“Nair is still actively involved in football and is the Fiji Football Association liaison executive in Australia.
Last year UBN Air-conditioning was a major sponsor for Sydney Ba Masters, which made a clean sweep of winning the New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated International Championship, the Australia Fiji Football Association tournaments and the veteran’s title during the Pacific Cup.
“All In One Builders managing director Sulendra Raju has been supporting Jack’s Nadi in all Pacific Cup tournaments.”
Nadi will be joined by Eliki Ravosai, Christopher Clarke and Viliame Toma in New Zealand for the Pacific Cup.
