The Salvation Army is looking forward to assist the Fiji Police Force fight crime.

Salvation Army’s  Divisional Commander Fiji Territory Captain Andrew Moffatt stressed this during his meeting with the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu saying they look forward to working with the Force as they have a number of programs already underway that would assist the institutional intent of reducing crime.

The Acting Commissioner continued his visitations of religious groups this past week and met with Capt Moffatt in Suva.

A/CP Tudravu met with both Capt Moffatt and Salvation Army Board member Ajay Bhai Amrit where he was briefed about the ongoing social and community work conducted by their various Ministries targeting different age groups.

“We’re both on the good side with a common goal of doing good and it’s only right that we work together,” Capt Moffatt said.

“We have Ministries that work with women, children, youth and we are a deeply rooted community organization where our assistance goes beyond just our own members but to anyone in need and by working together we can make a positive impact,” he said.

He also highlighted that talks were underway for the setting up of a substance abuse rehabilitation center.

Mr Amrit said they had always been willing to work with Police and hope the meeting will help open doors of cooperation.

“We are grateful for the Acting Commissioner’s visit because it’s all about winning hearts and the support of members of the community if we are to help each other in keeping our communities safe,” Mr Amrit said.

“We are of the view that if you win the hearts and minds of one religious body you’re not gaining 5000 of its members but you’re gaining 5000 Police officers who will help the Fiji Police Force to fight crime,” he said.

A/CP Tudravu acknowledged their willigness to work together and assured them of the Fiji Police’s support.

He was accompanied by the Director Operations SSP Sakeo Ganivatu and the Deputy Director Operations SP Epeli Sicinilawa.
