VODAFONE Fiji Popular Footballer of the Year 2017 Zibraaz Sahib is still trying to come to terms after getting the highest votes from the fans out of the 10 players nominated by Fiji FA.

The nominees for this award were Zibraaz Sahib (Lautoka), Kishan Sami (Ba), Gabrieli Matanisiqa (Rewa), Shahil Dave (Suva), Christopher Wasasala, Vilitati Kautoga, Alfraz Ali (Nadi), Cema Nasau (Ba), Sekoula Waqanidrola and Sofi Dilowai.

Surprised with the announcement, Sahib said he was honoured to receive the award.

He said he was also excited to have many fans supporting his soccer career as evident in his achievements.

The former Natabua High School student said winning the award would inspire him to work hard.

He thanked his loved ones for their support and his former coaches for grooming him to become a better player.

“I thank my family, my partner, because of them this happened and thanks to the fans for voting me,” said Sahib.

“To all my coaches especially my late coach Nicholas Rounds — he was the one that changed my football career while I was playing for the Lautoka youth.

“I also thanked my dad, he has been there for me every day, likewise my mum and my brothers. This award will motivate me to continue working hard and maintain the consistency throughout my soccer career.”

Sahib was part of the Lautoka Blues team that secured a spot in the O’League semi-final after their win over AS Dragons of Tahiti last week.
