The Labasa Airport runway may close again for flight operations as Fiji Airports remain in consultation with stakeholders exploring the best option.

Fiji Airports said in a statement it had restricted the runway to light aircraft operations until the end of next week.

However, it stated that a further complete shutdown of the runway was likely to be scheduled as they explored best options for remedial works.

“Fiji Airports has been consulting with our airline stakeholders, Fiji Link and Northern Air on the status of operations.

“We would like to emphasise that the safety of the travelling public is and remains our top priority. Medium category aircraft (ATR 42 and ATR 72) remain restricted over this period.”
