MEMBERS of the Ravoravo Rabbitohs rugby league side took time off from their training schedule yesterday to visit children at the Treasure Home on Tuesday.

The players presented gifts and tokens to the children. Team manager Sitiveni Vuniyayawa said the gesture was to inspire the children at the orphanage.

“We think that our being here today is a God given opportunity for us to show our support to children in need of assistance,” Vuniyayawa said.

“We are quite grateful to Vodafone for facilitating such an occasion. We hope that it will go a long way in assisting the Treasure Home and its occupants.

“We always encourage our players to be part of visits such as this. We also have a soft place in our hearts for Treasure Home because this is our third visit.

“Treasure Home was initiated by the people who had links to Sabeto, and we are grateful to be here for a worthy cause.”

The Sabeto-based rugby league club which was formed in 2017, has been a revelation in the local rugby league circles, upsetting the apple carts and betting shops by becoming a dominant rugby league club in the country.

They will play in the Melanesian Club Championship to be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.

It is the first time for Ravoravo Rabbitohs team to take part.

Lae Biscuit Company-sponsored outfit Lae Snax Tigers will be flying the Papua New Guinea flag, aiming to continue a legacy whereby no Fijian rugby league club has won the Melanesian Club Championship.
