Fiji National Rugby League newly-appointed chairman Aporosa Lutunauga has wasted no time in bringing changes with a five-year strategic development plan aimed at modernising the sporting body to ensure it remains relevant in its domain.

Lutunauga, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police, takes over the role from Viliame Naupoto, who resigned from his post.

Napolioni Batimala will continue in his capacity as deputy chairman and they will be assisted by directors Ilaitia Tagituimua, Taniela Vakamoce, Apenisa Densy and Josaia Bose.

While acknowledging the work of his predecessor, Lutunauga said the board would try to modernise the FNRL through reforms and restructuring.

“We are intending to develop a five-year strategic plan where we can set a direction for the board and the sport as a whole in order for us to achieve what we would like to achieve in the next five years,” he said.

“We would like to conduct reforms and restructures within the FNRL to ensure we are relevant, we are professional, we are efficient and effective in the way we look after the sport in the interest of all the players, clubs and the public.

“I am calling on all Fijians to please support the FNRL in its endeavour to take this sport into the future.”

He acknowledged the support of Vodafone Fiji for supporting FNRL through its sponsorship and was looking forward to working with them in taking the sport forward.
