Royal visit: Major road closures today in Suva-Nausori corridor

The stretch of road from the Nausori Airport, along the Kings Rd towards Samabula and to the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva will be closed from 3.15pm today.

MAJOR roads will be on rolling closure today from 4:15pm to 6pm for the arrival of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.

During this period, traffic within the route that the the royal entourage will be taking is restricted.

This will begin from the stretch of the road to the Nausori International Airport, through to Kings Rd, Samabula ending at Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

The following roads will be on rolling closure:

  • Wainibokasi Road
  • Kings Road (Nausori to Nabua)
  • Ratu Mara Road
  • Waimanu Road
  • Edinburgh Drive
  • Rodwell Road
  • Scott Street
  • Victoria Parade

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said members of the public were advised to thoroughly plan their day as there would be a series of road closures.

“The Police officers will be present to assist with traffic movement and the public are urged to find alternative routes or travel ahead of time,” Mr Moore said.

He said they were looking forward to everyone’s cooperation in assisting this prestigious event.
