THE National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has advised those living on the island of Rotuma to take extra precautionary measures as Tropical Depression 12F continues to move Southeast of Rotuma.

The weather office had issued a gale warning for the maritime island earlier today.

The NDMO has also advised mariners on the island against any outing to sea, rather to stay indoors.

It has advised communities on Rotuma to exercise precautions and prioritise safety until all threats associated with the tropical depression passes.

The National Emergency Operation Centre is working with the Divisional EOC Eastern to monitor the current situation.

Earlier today, the weatherman had forecast gale force winds with speed up to 90km/hr gusting to 130km/hr with high seas and damaging southerly swells.
