Meli Rokovu says it’s a blessing to return home and serve rural communities.
The Lautoka-born Kiwi resident is with the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Koha medical ship team serving in rural Vanua Levu.
“It feels great to come back home and help my fellow countrymen and I thank God for bringing me back home to assist with the medical outreach program,” the Soso, Naviti, Yasawa native said.
“When I was told that I would be part of the team heading to Fiji, I was so excited and I couldn’t wait.
“I have been away for two years, locked down because of COVID so this trip was a blessing for me to come home and also visit my parents and family who I haven’t met for two years.”
The former Drasa Secondary School student said there were more opportunities outside of Fiji but to return home and serve people was the greatest blessing.
Mr Rokovu also brought his wife Hannah and daughter Lusiana who met his family for the first time.
For Hannah, originally Canadian, travelling to Fiji with her husband was special.
“We are looking forward to serving Fijians in Vanua Levu, especially in the communities we will visit for medical outreach,” she said.
“And I’d like to encourage youths to never give up their dreams because we all serve a God who makes all things possible.”
