FORMER national 7s rep and Tabadamu club player/coach Nasoni Roko believes rugby is about passion and not age.
Roko, 38, a former World Cup 7s winner is still active in the game. For someone who doesn’t seem to have lost any pace, Roko is contributing immensely towards the success of the Tabadamu 7s club.
“Rugby is not about age it is about the passion. I’m still running with the young boys on the field, competing with the top level players in Fiji and I’m happy with what I’m doing right now,” he said.
Roko was part of the Tabadamu club during the Ram Sami Nasinu 7s at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori over the weekend. The side beat First Light Taveuni in the quarter-final and later Police Blue in the semi-final. The side fell short in the final losing 12-7 to Wardens.
Former national 7s team mate Emosi Vucago has also been assisting the club. He was unable to participate last weeked but Roko said, Vucago should be ready in time for the Nawaka 7s.
“Emosi Vucago has joined us in the last two weeks. He played at the Natakala 7s. He had some family commitments that’s why he was not able to join us but maybe for Nawaka 7s he will,” Roko said.
Tabadamu club has had huge success in the recent Marist 7s event and is also the defending champion.
