Rodu eyes first team victory

REWA coach Marika Rodu has shifted his focus onto winning matches in the 2018 Vodafone Premier League.

Rodu said the competition was getting tough.

“We do not seem to be connecting despite creating a number of opportunities against Ba as we are releasing the ball too early for the other players when we have space,” he said after going down to Ba 1-0 on Sunday.

“In terms of the organisation we did well and it was just too hard to catch up playing against a team like Ba.

“The competition is tough and after losing the matches I think we have to change our goals now and maybe start winning the matches instead of focusing on the OFC Champions League.”

The side lost four key players Savenaca Nakalevu, Tevita Waranivalu, Madhwan Gounder and ace goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau to Suva in the last transfer window.

“The win will come slowly and it was just unfortunate that we played all the tough teams in the first round with Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba. It is just unfortunate that we are at the wrong end of the result,” he said.

Rewa is on a bye this weekend in the VPL.
