Digicel Bula Boys interim coach Marika Rodu is looking for consistency as the team builds towards the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands at the end of the year.

The side was participating in the Tri Nations FIFA International Friendlies at Churchill Park in Lautoka last week.

This tournament is Rodu’s first coaching assignment for the Fiji senior side.

However, it wasn’t a sweet start which Rodu had hoped for after the side went down 1-2 to Vanuatu.

Rodu said since this was his first tournament, he knew that he wouldn’t be exempted from facing criticism.

He said building a national team was a journey with a long process.

“For this process to be fruitful, it requires consistency in terms of coaching the players,” Rodu said.

“I’m committed to do the job with my staff. We are fortunate to have the Fiji under-20 team part of the Tri Nations. Most of those boys will be pushing for a spot in the Fiji U23 team for Oceania’s 2024 Paris Olympic qualifying tournament in September.”
