FIJI men’s 4×400 metres rely team finished fifth in the final of the 4x400m at the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia on Saturday.
The team had Aaron Powell, Samuela Railoa, Kameli Sauduadua, Petero Veitaqomaki did the season best with a time of three minutes and 15.10 seconds.
“Our 4x400m relay team finished fifth out of eight countries which competed in the final,” Athletics Fiji chief development officer Joseph Rodan Jr said.
“It was a great achievement from a small nation that represented Oceania in the finals as there were no other Oceania countries.” Rodan said he was happy with the performance.
“Our fifth place finish out of 57 nations in the Commonwealth is not bad and plus the 3 minutes 15.10 second ran was 4 seconds faster than the heats and faster than the gold medal winning time in Pacific Mini Games by Papua New Guinea,” he added.
