WORK is expected to begin soon on the 8.3 kilometres Nasealevu-Vuraqilai-Vatua road after Fiji Roads Authority recently released tender for the roadwork in the area.
A statement from the authority said FRA was conducting a week-long public consultation with the villagers outside Labasa.
The statement said the main purpose of this consultation was to inform the villagers on the road projects that were in the pipeline as well as to collect their consents.
“Works on the Nasealevu-Vuiraqilai-Vatua road include its designing and building approximately 8.3km of unsealed road,” the statement said.
“Works also include designing and building of two low level crossings including approaches.
“This is part of the Northern Division unsealed road package 1.
“A request for tender has been sent out.”
The statement revealed three other road projects were scheduled as the Northern Division unsealed road package 1 for the North this year.
“Works include upgrading works for site 1 in Nasasa-Lakeba approximately 18.0km of the Nasasa-Nacula-Lakeba road,” the statement said.
“This includes the designing and building two (2) low level crossings including approaches.
“Works on the Viani-Lea access road include the designing and building of approximately 9km of the road.
“Site 3 involves the upgrading of approximawtely 1.7km of the Qelemumu-Basoga access road.”
