STUDENTS of J.N Jokhan Memorial Primary School in Navua can now travel with ease to school following road upgrades recently conducted on Calia Rd that leads to the school.
The school with a roll of 250 students, with most from farming communities in the greater Navua area, now have access to a better road.
The roadworks consisted of re-sheeting works carried out by the Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture (FHHJV).
FHHJV — Taunovo area supervisor Remesio Naqori said with the completion of roadworks, buses, carriers and hauling trucks were able to travel with ease.
“The work included clearing, re-sheeting with compaction and forming with crushed AP65, as well as clearing water channel in various areas on the road so that water does not accumulate on both sides within the two-kilometre-long road,” Mr Naqori said.
“Before, the road would get muddy and slippery on rainy days, which made it difficult for children to get to school or for farmers to take their produce to Navua.”
