Risk of further flooding; remain vigilant

MEMBERS of the public are being urged to remain vigilant as there is a risk of further flooding in low-lying areas with the adverse weather affecting the country.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore in a statement issued today said the FRA has been taking advantage of gaps in the weather to restore access, however, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to reinstate some road conditions.
He said the wet road network and continuous rain experienced in the past few weeks is impeding our contractors’ ability to carry our repair work on roads.
“The incessant rain in many low-lying areas is causing localised flooding, washouts to bridge and crossing approaches which have resulted in further damage to recently repaired and maintained sections of the roads.”
