FORMER Flying Fijians team assistant coach Reverend Joji Rinakama believes in words of encouragement as the final lethal weapon for the Fiji team before their first Rugby World Cup match against Australia on Saturday.

Rinakama assisted Ilivasi Tabua in coaching the Flying Fijians when they made the quarter-final against South Africa in the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.

The former Nadroga/Naitasiri head coach said Fijians had a common personality and that was how they were inspired after a motivational speech.

“It’s in every Fijian rugby player’s DNA that words of encouragement before every match in a local or international rugby arena will boost their performances,” Rinakama said.

“We have the best backline and a robust forwards pack and to add extra firepower through motivational speeches, then nothing can stop these boys.”

Fiji plays their first match against Australia on Saturday at 4:45pm.
