STRIKER Nemani Raqio gave Rewa a perfect start to the 2016 Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.
Raqio scored the lone goal against northerners Bua in the first match of the day.
Coach Parmesh Karan said the team wanted to win the event this year.
“I am not satisfied as I was expecting more goals from the boys. Our aim is to reach the final and I am sure we can make it,” he said.
“People should come and cheer the team as the turnout is very poor.
Being the host this year, Karan said the competition was getting tougher.
“There is a pressure on the team as we did not do well in the Courts Inter-District Championship so it is the only chance to prove ourselves,” he added.
“We are looking forward for a good tournament since most of the players will not be playing for the school. They will move to secondary level.”
