Rewa holds champs Ba

REWA edged closer to survival in the Vodafone Premier League competition after a 1-all draw against champion Ba at the Fiji Football Association Academy ground in Namosau yesterday.

Ba drew first blood in the 24th minute through Vanuatu import Tommy Micah while Tevita Waranivalu equalised for the Delta Tigers midway in the second spell.

Ba team manager Arvind Singh said they gave a break to a few new boys in the fixture.

Singh said the result was a positive one as they prepare for the coming Courts Inter District Championship.

“The main concern for us was injuries,” he said. Ba has won the VPL title for the 21st time and secured a spot in the 2020 Oceania Football Confederation Champions League.

Lautoka is in second position in the VPL but will have to wait for two protest hearing against the side for defender Poasa Bainivalu to secure a spot at the 2020 OFC Champions League.
