Rewa is anticipating a tough physical clash against defending Vanua Trophy Challenge trophy holders Lautoka this Saturday at Lawaqa Park.

“We know that Lautoka is a very strong team as we had already played against them in the semi-finals of the Vanua Championship,” Rewa Rugby Union club games chairman Joji Daurewa said.

He said they were doing a re-analysis of their loss against the Maroons early last month in the Vanua Championship semi-finals.

“We are working hard to put together a team and also looking back at the match so that we can work on those areas that we can improve on.

“We want to field a very good team which can match Lautoka’s physicality.”

Daurewa said the Maroons outmatched them in terms of size and their powerful forwards pack.

“The advantage of Lautoka is their size and we have to be very physical against them.

“We have rugby players who come from our local villagers, so we are trying to put up a game plan with the available resources that we have.”

He said the Peniame Drova-coached side were geared up for an exciting clash over the weekend.

The match against Rewa would be the third defence for the Maroons after having earlier defeated Navosa and Northland.

Meanwhile Nadroga will also host Suva for the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy Challenge match at Lawaqa Park this Saturday.
