THE protection of coastline and marine life habitats remained a paramount priority for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.

A recent initiative was carried out by staff associates and guests of the five-star resort to ensure this was put into practice for the Momi Bay-based resort.

On February 20, about 100 people planted 2020 mangrove seedlings within the vicinity of the resort shoreline and marine areas.

“The significance of the date posed the ideal timing to highlight the effects of climate change and garner support for the Marriott International for Mangroves, Rivers & Reefs foundation,” the resort stated in a statement.

In partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries, the foundation actively hosted eco-focused activities and events for guests and associates to participate and contribute to fund projects that sustained, managed and protected Fiji’s important marine ecosystem.

The mangrove seedlings were planted along the Momi Bay shoreline and Tui Nalolo – Ratu Kini from Lomawai Village was also part of the great marine initiative.

The resort added this recent marine environment initiative was important to protect coastlines, prevent erosion and provided feeding habitats for marine life.
