Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort is working closely with Sigatoka Hospital to support Fijians in the Sigatoka district to quarantine if they are unable to do so from their home.

Resort general manager Darren Shaw said they remained committed to playing their role in helping contain the virus from spreading in the community.

“We currently have around 50 patients at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort. All patients are from Sigatoka District,” Mr Shaw said.

“Our two staff that tested COVID positive last month have completed their quarantine and have returned to full health.

“As both staff were fully vaccinated, they did not suffer any negative side effects from the virus.”

The Coral Coast-based resort started receiving guests at its quarantine facility in June.

Mr Shaw said rooms for the quarantine facility were in the buildings adjoining the resort’s reception area and had full security closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems that were easily confined to the one location, away from the rest of the resort.

He added they would continue the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by assisting the Ministry of Health by providing quarantine for Fijians in the Sigatoka district.
