Residents prepare to face British team

The Vodafone Fiji Residents team has marched in camp to prepare for their three games against the Community English Rugy League team from England on November 12-16.

Head coach Josaia Rabele said the games against the British would feature some new players selected from clubs playing in the FNRL weekly competition.

“This game against the British, we have included some new players who haven’t represented the Fiji Residents. This is a major boost for us because we have seen some new potential who deserve to be in the residents’ team” he said.

“There will be two games against the British and we will not take the two games lightly. Our preparation has started and we know this match will be a tough and physical one.

“We know our weaknesses and we are working on it, we have only one week left for the game we are training very hard, the players have improved with what they have shown on the field and we are just looking forward for game day” said Rabele.

Head coach Rabele, said these matches would help the local players develope their skills especially with 2017 Rugby League World Cup coming up.

“This is a great opportunity for our local-based players to play at this level. We want to set a standard for our Residents players and this game is important since this is one of the many games that prepare our local players for next year’s Rugby League World Cup”.

The Vodafone Fiji Residents team will play against the British Amateur Rugby League team on November 12 and 16 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori and Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
