Residents in certain parts of Lautoka advised to expect power outages

EXPECT power outages and temporary road closures today on the Queens Road from Navutu, Lautoka, to the Vuda Back Rd from 6am to 6pm tomorrow.
Energy Fiji Limited CEO Hasmukh Patel said the disruptions were due to the transportation of heavy electricity generation equipment from the EFL Navutu Depot to the Vuda Power Station.
“During this period, the equipment is expected to be transported along the following route – Natabua Rd, Wairabetia Rd, Vuda Back Rd to the EFL Vuda Power Station,” Mr Patel said.
“This wide-bodied and heavy equipment is being transported in a specialised trailer by Tranzcarr of New Zealand and the roads need to be clear of vehicles and pedestrians.
“Please note that during the movement of the equipment, there will be restriction of traffic movement including temporary road closures where required for safety reasons.
“The second phase of the exercise will also require that the power supply is switched off for safety reasons during these times.”
Mr Patel said the following areas would experience power outages from 6am to 1pm – whole of Natabua Area, Natabua Housing Stage 1, Natabua Housing Stage 2, Fiji National University, Sunshine Shop, Bhola Street, Dildar Shah Street, Gibson Place, Fong Place, Moti Chandra Crescent, Natabua Shopping Centre, Natabua Primary School, Dawai Street, Fiji Correction Centre Dog Unit, Tabua Place, Rai Place, Hiralal Place, Methodist Church of Fiji – Natabua, Natabua Prison, Eat Well, Total Navutu, MR Khan Buses, Taiperia, Singh’s Rental Yard, Part of field 40 Road, Super Timberland PTE Limited, whole of Natabua Sea-Side Road, Auto Care Yard, Jacks Auto World Limited, B.L. Naidu Subdivision and Lautoka Sewerage Plant.
The following areas should expect outages from 6am to 6pm – Part of Saru Back Road, Whole of Vaivai, Vaivai Primary School, Water Authority Booster Pump, and Flame Tree Quarry, Bandra Road and Varaki Road, whole of Rahiman Road, Part of Queens Road, Blue Scope, Deepak Construction, Wairabetia Markaz, Supercool Group Fiji Limited, Maha Shakti Kaliamman Kovil, El-Shaddai Assembly of God Church, Tavakubu Police Post, Tavakubu Back Road, Vodafone & Digicel Repeater, Ba Provincial High School, Ash Shopping Centre, whole of Wairabetia Area, ADC Church, Miki Construction, Blue Scope, Elia Engineering, Shah Transport, Deepak Construction, Export Freight Services, Rota Tank, Velovelo, AJNK Group, Saru M.G.M Kindergarden, Saru Primary School, Saru Shopping Centre and Navula.
