Government should remove the Water Authority of Fiji and replace it with the Public Works Department.

This is the view of Birend Pal, a resident of Falvey Street, Raiwaqa, one of a number of areas in Suva plagued with intermittent water supply issues.

He said people were fed up of being given excuses instead of solutions to their water woes.

Mr Pal claimed he had been experiencing water supply issues because of pipes connecting four houses in his area.

He claimed when WAF installed a new pipe near his house, it affected their water supply.

“Our water source is the Nasinu Reservoir, and we have been experiencing the issue of no water since September last year,” said the 73-year-old.

“This Government should remove WAF and replace it with Public Works Department.

“WAF gives a lot of excuses when we go to their office.”

Questions sent to Minister of Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau and Water Authority of Fiji yesterday remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
