Report: $77k net loss for FICAC

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) had a net loss of $77,873 in its 2017-2018 financial year, states its annual report that was tabled in Parliament yesterday.

FICAC had a total income of $8.2 million compared with total expenses of $8.3 million.

Almost 100 per cent of FICAC’s total income was a government grant totalling $8,254,648.

The annual report showed 62 percent of its total expenses were for salaries and wages, a total of $5.2 million.

As of July 31, 2018, the FICAC had 149 staff members employed in various departments, with one executive, 66 investigators, 18 in the legal and protection department, eight in the complaints department, 23 in the corruption prevention department and 33 in administration and finance.

The annual report said FICAC paid $187,081 to its key management in salaries and benefits that year.

The FICAC deputy commissioner between August 2017 and July 2018 was George Langman.
