THE replanting program to replace trees destroyed at the height of Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston is expected to begin in August.
Ministry of Forests permanent secretary Samuela Lagataki said they put the program on hold until the 2017 National Budget was announced.
The national budget announcement has been fast tracked to June.
“After cyclone Winston, our main focus was on assisting the communities. Everyone is in recovery mode and now we are going to assist the communities in terms of livelihood,” Mr Lagataki said.
“In terms of recovering, replanting will start around August when the new budget comes in but there are some activities planned outside this line.”
Mr Lagataki said they were working together with their partners such as the UNDP, the Food and Agriculture Organization and other NGOs to provide rehabilitation.
Wood processing in areas affected by the cyclone continues.
