Renewal work on Suva’s Greig St

Update: 9:25PM GREIG street, one of Suva’s busy street, will have an improved road surface as a result of the road renewal work that will commence this Sunday, October 23.

Fiji Roads Authority general manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes said FRA’s maintenance contractor for the Central Division, Fulton Hogan Hiways (FHH), was establishing themselves onsite.

In a statement, he said members of the general public could expect increased activity on Greig Street over the coming week.

“Greig Street was planned for renewals in 2017, however, the project was brought forward in line with the opening of the new FNPF building,” Mr Goes said.

“If everything goes according to plan, we should be in and out within a week. We remain hopeful that the weather is favourable and on our side.”

He said there were no major utility service relocation works like water pipes and cables on Greig Street, however, the members of the public could can expect some disturbance that would include dust and vibration from the use of heavy machinery.

FRA will be closing Greig Street to all motorists from 6am on Sunday October 20 and the road will reopen at 6am on Friday October 28 for the Diwali weekend.
