A PERSON in remand requiring a medical review must be allowed to do so, says High Court in Lautoka judge Justice Chamath Morais.

He made the comment after Marc Winston — one of the two men facing charges for unlawful importation of illicit drugs — was denied a hospital visit by prison authorities.

Defence counsel Adrienne Ali informed the court last week that her client was denied his basic right of access basic health services and visitation from close family members.

Ms Ali also told the court that most of her client’s personal items and that of his partner had not been returned from when he was taken into custody by police last year.
