THE Frank Hilton Organisation (FHO) has announced the extension of the registration dates for their much awaited wheelbarrow race.
It has been moved to October 29.
According to FHO chief executive officer Sureni Perera 15 teams have registered so far but they have extended their registration period to allow more interested teams to register for the race.
“Fiji TV has come on board to provide exclusive coverage of the event and they are also fielding a team and Vinod Patel Foundation has entered two teams in the race,” Perera said.
She said representatives of 10 teams had their practice and training which included warm-up sessions which was conducted by the organisers at Albert Park yesterday morning.
“It’s very encouraging to see these people together this morning to train and plan their strategy for the race and also there has been huge support towards the race and I am thankful to all the corporates and teams who have stood by us.”
“Every minute they spend bonding as a team, practising and planning for the race also translates to time well spent in ensuring that children with disabilities within our organisation will continue to enjoy the services we provide for them.”
Head of the organising committee Lolesh Sharma said they wanted to get the teams together, warm-up and go through the rules in an informal setting.
“I know they are very competitive but it’s also about having fun as well,” Sharma said.
