THE history behind how Hindi travelled 12,000 kilometers to Fiji is nothing short of remarkable.

This was highlighted by the Office of the Prime Minister’s permanent secretary Yogesh Karan while officiating at the Regional Hindi Conference held at the Grand Pacific Hotel today.

He said Hindi has been spoken in Fiji for the past 140-years now.

“It is one of the three official languages and is widely spoken throughout the country,” he said.
