Around 500 frontline healthcare workers across the Navua – Nausori corridor, CWM Hospital and Lautoka Hospital were treated to refreshment packs by volunteers from ANZ Fiji’s Staff Foundation.
According to a statement from the bank, ANZ Staff Foundation Lead, Tania Kotobalavu said the past few months have challenged Fijians in so many ways and have affected the way they lived, worked and interacted with others.
“No one has faced more uncertainty, anxiety and change than our frontline healthcare workers, who bravely took on the enormous physical and emotional challenge,” she said.
“Our frontline healthcare workers put their own safety on the line to protect others in the face of COVID-19.
“They are all heroes and although this is a small gesture, we wanted to show our thanks.”
It was stated ANZ Fiji Staff Foundation was a charitable trust, funded by staff donations and matched dollar for dollar by ANZ.
The bank said it has over the past 15 years, donated more than $F1 million to local charities and it’s all thanks to ANZ staff members who gave money from their salary each week.
ANZ staff members in Fiji had also contributed more than 1,000 volunteer hours in the past 12 months.
“We’re proud of the work that we do to help people and communities in Fiji. “It is really core to who we are at ANZ,” Ms Kotobalavu added.
