A DAIRY cattle in Fiji at present produces around five to six litres of milk a day, said Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy.

This, he said according to international standards, was low and the ministry had been working with the Australian government to address the shortage of milk production in the country.

Mr Reddy said the shortage of milk was linked to dairy cattle being infected with animal diseases.

Australian Reproductive Technologies managing director Simon Walton said they would assist in introducing a new dairy cattle breed in Fiji.
