Recognition for singer

IT was a proud moment for renowned Hindi-iTaukei singer Saimone Vuatalevu after he was awarded a certificate of excellence for his contributions towards the Hindi language in the country.

Vuatalevu, Virend Lal and Bimal Chand were acknowledged for their work during the World Hindi Day celebrations held by the High Commission of India in Suva last month.

Vuatalevu said he was honoured to be awarded with a certificate for his dedication and hard work in promoting the Hindi language.

“My love for singing Hindi songs is a result of this. This always has been my hobby. This is a surprise for me. I started to speak Hindi way back in the 1970s when I formed my band. I got the opportunity to study Hindi language in India back then,” he said.
