IT is an honour to represent Fiji at the 2018 Commonwealth Games says Fiji’s top swimmer Matelita Buadromo ahead of next month’s competition in Gold Coast, Australia.

Buadromo, 22, will be swimming for the second time in the Commonwealth Games after having represented Fiji in 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“The competition means a lot to me after the Olympic Games. So for me it is an honour and dream come try to be selected to represent Fiji,” Buadromo said.

“My family had been my biggest support system and they always encourage me to do well.

“They gave me a lot of moral support and cheering for me during competitions and they also helped me to raise funds whenever I needed funds for the overseas competition.”

Buadromo will take part in the 200 metre medley, 400m freestyle, 50m and 100 butterfly event at the Commonwealth Games.

“I am looking forward to the competition,” she said.

“It would be a tough competition and to compete against so many people, but I am ready to swim.”
