THE vanua o Vuda had its reasons when it did not mention the three confederacies — Kubuna, Burebasaga and Tovata — during the traditional ceremony of welcome that was accorded to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Albert Park in Suva on Tuesday.

Taukei Sawaieke, Ratu Tevita Momoedonu, who was heading the 70-member delegation from Vuda to perform the traditional welcome ceremony, described it as a ceremony that was fit for a king and there could be no description better than that.

Ratu Momoedonu took ownership of the fact that he was the one who made the decision not to mention the three confederacies during the auspicious ceremony of welcome accorded to our royal visitors.

And yesterday afternoon, Ratu Tevita said, “I apologise to the people of Fiji on behalf of the vanua o Vuda”, if their actions had hurt anyone.
