FIJI Airways Fiji 7s training squad member Napolioni Ratu Nasalo is expected to be at his best at this weekend’s Turnbull Namamanuca Primary School 7s at Yanuya, Malolo in the Mamanuca Group.
The Wadigi Salvo 7s team playmaker has been knocking on the Fiji 7s selection door for the past two years and is on the verge of fulfilling his dream in the near future.
Ratu made his debut in the Fiji 7s team at the Nabukelevu 7s on Kadavu last week and will again team up with the likes of Paula Dranisinukula, Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Kalione Nasoko, Josua Vakurinabili, Alasio Naduva and Apenisa Cakaubalavu for the DM 7s team in Malolo.
His father and Wadigi Salvo Rugby Club president Apimeleki Nasalo said his son started playing 7s rugby two years ago. “He always wanted to represent the country,” Nasalo Sr said.
“Being called to join the Fiji 7s training camp really boosted his confidence. “And playing alongside national 7s reps will surely develop his game to fulfil his goal.”
Meanwhile, the DM 7s team is expected to face tough challenges against the Nakate Babaas and Somosomo in their pool games.
The Nakete Babaas is made up of players who featured in the Yasawa and Malolo 15s team that lost to Coral View Yasawa at the recent St Patrick Vuaki 7s.
Other teams tipped to stamp their mark at the tournament are defending champions Yanuya Get Together, Wadigi Salvo, Babale and Momi Tigers.
The two-day competition kicks off tomorrow.
