The school won 10 gold in the boys division followed by Swami Vivekananda College with eight gold above Nadi Muslim Colllege who finished third with four gold medals.
Nadi Sangam which dominated the sprint events leads the medal tally in the girls division with eight gold medals followed by Swami Vivekananda College. Nadi Muslim finished third with four gold medals.
A total of 19 records were set yesterday as athletes look forward to another day of tough competition today.
Tournament official Pita Bolaidua said the first day was a success and predicted tough competition in the finals today.
He said having the zone meet at the synthetic tracks for the first time also lifted the performance of the athletes.
“The competition started well and it lifted to another level compared to previous years,” said Bolaidua.
“Running at the synthetic tracks is something new for most of these athletes as they are getting the taste of what to expect in Suva.
“The medal tally changes now and then and we expect stiff competition tomorrow,” he added.
