The late Taukei Sawaieke Ratu Tevita Momoedonu has certainly left a lasting legacy for the vanua o Vuda, yasana o Ba and Fiji as a whole.

In a statement today, Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) president Viliame Gavoka extended the party’s condolences to Radini Sawaieke Kolora Momoedonu and the family.

He said Ratu Momoedonu was a proud son of the vanua o Vuda and the yasana o Ba, which he faithfully served until his passing.

“He had a wealth of knowledge, experience and carried himself with humility as he undertook his different roles in areas of the vanua, community at large and national governance,” Mr Gavoka said.

“Momoedonu was a widely respected teacher before joining the Ministry of Fijian Affairs as Roko Tui Ba, and then later on as Minister for Labour, Industrial Relations and Immigration under the Labour Coalition Government.

“He served the Fijian people with grace and respect.

“In 2002, he was appointed by the late former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, as Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan and South Korea where he was instrumental in the strengthening of development assistance to Fijian communities.”
