VETERAN flyhalf Emori Ratu will look to cement his name for a spot in the Vodafone Vanua XV squad that will travel to New Zealand next week for its two-match tour against the New Zealand Heartland XV.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this team which was selected from the Vanua competition’s best players,” Ratu said.
Ratu, 38, one of the senior members of the squad, has a colourful career playing for the Western Crusaders in the Colonial Cup competition from 2004-2008.
If selected, this will be his third opportunity to wear the Fiji jersey after making the Fiji Selection squad in 2005 and the 2007 Fiji 7s team coached by Iliesa Tanivula.
The Naboubuco, Naitasiri highlander plays for Vatukoula and has no plans to slow down.
“We have our last game tomorrow (today) against Army and I will make sure to make my mark to reach the final selection, and wear that white jersey again for Fiji,” he said.
The travelling 26-member Vodafone Vanua XV squad is expected to be named today and leaves for New Zealand next Tuesday.
