RATEPAYERS of Lautoka have pleaded with the newly-appointed special administrators to do a face-lift of the Sugar City.

Veteran journalist and Lautoka ratepayer Dennis Rounds made the plea at the first ratepayers meeting on Wednesday.

“One of the things we lack here in Lautoka and one of our concerns is we need to get an upgrade and make our city vibrant,” Mr Rounds said.

“We hope that you as business people will change the look of the city and make it more attractive, especially for tourists when they come in.

“It’s so congested when we drive into the city and this is something we hope you will look into and make Lautoka look like what it was before.”

Special administrator Beatrice Nast said their interest was in moving the city forward and they would work closely with the Lautoka City Council and ratepayers to improve on this.
