Rape case: Pastor and senior church member denied bail

BAIL has been denied for a pastor and senior church member by the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.

Pastor Waisake Tulavu, 46, is charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Senior church member, Sakiusa Nakutoro, 50, is charged with one count of rape.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele said rape is a serious offence and it is in the best interest of the court to deny the bail application.

It’s alleged that the two raped three church members aged 22, 29 and 32 years between May and June, 2018, in Cunningham.

The case has been adjourned to December 28.
