EVERGREEN Ram Khelawan took out the Jack’s of Fiji Nadi Seniors Open at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club course on Friday.
Khelawan recorded two birdies on the front nine and one on the back nine to score 42 points in the 18 holes stableford event.
He lived up to the favourites tag outwitting the other 32 competitors.
Khelawan who has been playing the sport for more than three decades was in top form hitting long drives to set up birdie chances.
With the home course knowledge, Khelawan blew the field apart to add another seniors title to his cabinet.
Khelawan who has won several senior tournaments said the regular practise paid off.
Tim Bucknall was second with 38 points while Raghu Chaudhary was third with 36 points.
Alfie Bowerman won the super senior category. Bowerman scored 33 points.
Nadi Seniors Open coordinator Mark Hinton said they were pleased with the number of participants that turned up for the Friday event.
Hinton said more tournaments were planned for the year.
“The seniors played in the over 55 years age category while the super seniors was for players over the age of 70 years,” he said.
“Jack’s of Fiji will sponsor our next event in August. That will be followed by the Smugglers Cove Resort-sponsored Western Open on September 8.”
Both events will also be played at the Denarau Course.
