A vegetable farmer is contemplating his future after he claims his okra (bhindi) crop was deliberately sprayed with insecticides on Friday night.

Samujh Raj Singh has suffered losses amounting to $8500 and believes his crop was damaged by people who envied his achievements.

“This act has not only affected me, but people who buy from us,” he said.

“Whoever has done this knew we are making money and they couldn’t see that.”

Mr Singh said he had “no enemies” in the Barotu settlement.

“We are like a small family here and we look after each other.

“In one night, five farms were sprayed deliberately, and I want Government to come and see the damage.”‘

He said he would uproot all the damaged crop and would decide if he would plant again.
