Rain fails to stop golfers

CONTINUOUS drizzle did not damper the spirit of 25 golfers who participated in the Sadhai Auto Spares Ltd-sponsored 18 holes individual stroke event at the Lautoka Golf Club course on Saturday.

Regular competitor Manwal Kumar handled the wet conditions to claim the A- grade title on 69 nett.

Former Vatukoula Open champion Asish Kumar finished a close second on 70, with LGC vice captain Suren Pillay third on 71.

Young Anand Kumar posted a valuable 68 nett to win the B- grade title, edging Gaffar Ali who maintained second spot on 69, with Pritam Singh rounding off proceedings and third place on 70.

Junior golfer Alex Qiokata made his top return in the C-grade with a fine 70.

Navi Vakaruru collected the second prize on 71 with newcomer Billy Chong Sue finishing third on 72.

Bob Permal of Melbourne, Australia, accounted for the visitors’ category on 70. Suren Pillay claimed NTP on the second hole with Maika Kasami winning on the ninth.

Lawrence Naidu nailed the longest drive on the third hole.

LGC executive, Raymond Singh thanked Sadiq Khan and Afzal Khan of Sadhai Auto Spares Ltd for the timely sponsorship towards LGC.
