Rafiq claims monthly medal

MOHAMMED Rafiq claimed the Fiji Golf Club Sunquick September monthly medal event at the Vatuwaqa golf course over the weekend.
Rafiq won the A-grade with a nett score of 70 on Saturday.
Marika Vada and Satya Nand Prasad managed the second and third places, respectively, on 71 nett each.
In the B-grade competition, Russel Gibson took the top prize on 70 nett followed by Anare Gukilau on 71.
Seoung Han settled in the third place with 72 nett.
Rajesh Raj recorded an excellent score of 66 nett to win the C-grade ahead of junior golfer Tom Yao on 71 and Pramesh Sharma on 72.
In the ladies division one grade, Ofa Tabunakawai finished on top on 68 nett while Lillian Allen on 71 nett took the division two prize.
The nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Simone Harper, BJ Park and Rajesh Raj on the second, fifth, 12th and 16th holes, respectively.
“CJ Patel has been sponsoring this event for the past two years. We would like to thank the management and staff of CJ Patel for their support to Fiji Golf Club and golfing as a whole in Fiji,” club manager Nigel Goundan said.
“The monthly medal event is always a privileged golfing event for Fiji Golf Club members. There were more than 100 golfers who fought the light showers to participate in the event.”
Meanwhile, the Fiji Golf Club Open will be held this Saturday.
