Rabuka wants ‘accuracy’

THE Fijian media needs to ensure that every story they pursue is covered with comment from every actor involved and published with complete accuracy.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted this during an interview with The Fiji Times this week.

When asked if he could challenge the media on one aspect of how they operated, he replied with one word — “accuracy”.

“They have to report accurately and give those that may feel offended, give them the right of response or reply,” Mr Rabuka said.

“That’s what we had after ’87.

“I told The Fiji Times, if you write nasty things about me, give me the same rights, same page, same size letters and give me the right to respond.”
