2022 General Election: Request for military to intervene in counting denied – Rabuka

People’s Alliance leader Sitiveni Rabuka says his request for the military to intervene in the electoral counting process was denied by Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai.

In a news conference on Thursday, The People’s Alliance (PA) party leader Sitiveni Rabuka said he would write to the RFMF Commander and President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to express their concerns following the “glitch”during the counting process on election night.

“I sent the letter up and he said no, we will play our role and make sure that, we hope it will be a fair election. He will not be drawn into it.

“He knows that we are concerned.”

He said they had also copied the President in the letter but had not received a response.
