OPPOSITION leader Sitiveni Rabuka has acknowledged the increase in the number of women participating in national decision making at the highest level, in Parliament.
Mr Rabuka said during his time, only two women were members of parliament – one of whom later became his deputy prime minister and the second was a Cabinet minister.
“It is encouraging to experience the progress we have made thus far in ensuring the effective participating of women in all aspects of national leadership,” he said.
Mr Rabuka also congratulated the FijiFirst Government for winning the 2018 General Elections.
“Government has been elected to run government in the next four years, the margin of a very narrow majority of just over 50.02 per cent of those who cast a valid vote, and I agree with those honourable members who have said in this honourable house that a ‘win is win’ no matter what the margin,” he added.
